The Weaver

I owned a home in Anacortes for many years. My design instincts took hold and I created a home of which I was truly enamored except for floor coverings.

I could not find rugs commercially available that completed the interior. Internet searches produced the usual array of hand knotted rugs from India, China and the Middle East but these were not the modern design motifs sought. Smaller hand woven rugs on looms suitable for bath and scatter rugs were also abundant but did not meet my needs for room sized carpets.

Then I found Janet Thomas at Lark Textile Design in Bellingham, WA. Janet’s weaving style was exactly what I wanted! Her style in combination with our collective design input provided the final element for my home. It also triggered that pent up artist in me and I made a deal with Janet to weave rugs for my home and take me on as an apprentice. What a thrill working with a master weaver!

Weaving large carpets is hard work. It is a real challenge to find and learn how to use the right equipment. After months with Janet I decided to strike out on my own closer to home. Janet helped me find my wings until I was ready to fly.
